Embedded Control Projects

M/B Consulting recently completed a project to create a controller for a bench-top instrument. Cost and volume dictated a low cost, easily programmed microprocessor. The Basic Stamp was examined for this application, but was not capable of the required math functions, so the Fbasic Tickit was adopted. The resulting controller fit on the back of a numeric key pad and all of the control functions for an instrument soon to be on the market. These functions include key pad input, LCD and printer output, plus various digital I/O's for the instrument and A/D for an analog sensor.

A more general controller design has since been completed, but not yet built. This design, or one specific to a new requirement are available. Also available are software subroutines for LCD control, key pad input, and math functions for mean, square root, and standard deviation. For custom design projects, M/B Consulting can handle circuit design, board layout, prototype construction, programming, and debugging, providing a completed result to the client. Alternatively, the client may handle any of these project functions.

For more information on the Fbasic Tickit contact Protean Logic (formerly Versatech). This processor is only about $16 in single quantity and has capabilities matching most of the Basic Stamp functions, plus 32 bit arithmetic and program storage in a removable EEPROM chip, making software updates easy and inexpensive.

Library Files -Here are some of the library functions I have written for the Fbasic Tickit . You may find them useful.
